It is believed to be the place where the sage Vishwamitra meditated, lived and performed austerities. It is  located at  Bisaul Village , of Madhubani district in the Mithila region, Bihar, India. It is surrounded by lush green forests and has a serene and peaceful atmosphere. The ashram has a number of temples and shrines dedicated to various Hindu deities. The main temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. There is also a temple dedicated to the sage Vishwamitra . The ashram is a popular pilgrimage site for Hindus from all over India. He was a patron of learning and philosophy and had a council of learned Brahmins known as Parishad at his court. The council was responsible for debating and discussing various philosophical topics, and it was from these discussions that the Ancient Mithila University was born. Akshapada Gautama "The founder of Nyaya Shastra" The university became an important center of Nyaya Shastra and logical sciences founded by the great Saptarshi sage Akshapada Gautama. It was also very famous for the Nyaya Shastra and Logic from the 12th/13th to 15th century CE in the mediaeval period.
