It is believed to be the place where the sage Vishwamitra meditated, lived and performed austerities. It is  located at  Bisaul Village , of Madhubani district in the Mithila region, Bihar, India. He is also considered as an incarnation of Lord   Vishnu , the preserver god in Hinduism. He was a patron of learning and philosophy and had a council of learned Brahmins known as Parishad at his court. The council was responsible for debating and discussing various philosophical topics, and it was from these discussions that the Ancient Mithila University was born.
